Wilderrun and the Purple

How did the Strain get out of Grimvault to be in Wilderrun BEFORE the wall came down? I'm fairly sure you get the cannon/crash mission at the end of Malgrave, and the missions in Southern Grimvault are very much 'front line' operations against the Strain, and the datalogs and stuff show the Strain pretty much just broke through, hence the Dominion/Exile footholds there and further through the Defile/Blighthaven.

I don't get it - there doesn't seem to be any relevant exo-lab to the Strain in the area, the Luminai project notwithstanding is bio-tech sure, but I'm pretty sure this is pre-Drusera/Entity, because there are datacubes from the Genesis Prime members and obviously they couldn't have completed the Project pre-Vitara and the Focus of Life. Even then, the first Strain creatures Drusera made were in Blighthaven and behind the Exanite walls - how would they have gotten to Wilderrun?

Also, Selene (last boss of Sanctuary) VERY clearly talks about the Entity - how was the sword/pool corrupted? And isn't the Entity reveal later in the story than Sanctuary, or very close to it? (SSM and Grimvault are level-aligned iirc).

tl;dr how is the strain in wilderrun pre-grimvault

WildStar Player Discuss:

SSM was always a level 50 dungeon, so took place after Grimvault and the whole Entity reveal. I'm not sure how long after grimvault it's supposed to take place though, seeing as the Strain corruption in SSM seems to have been going on for quite some time when you enter.

Other than that you're right, I'm pretty sure it's one of the many plotholes and inconsistencies in the Wildstar lore. The strain in Wilderrun doesn't really make sense from a story, timing and geographical point of view, seeing as Malgrave is still free of it.

Could be someone or something carried it to Wilderrun where it then spread on its own, but dont think anything like that is said anywhere and would be pretty farfetched either way.

The point is not why, the point is how.

The strain somehow got past an impenatrable wall of exanite before it was broken, totally skipped Malgrave, flew over an entire ocean (and whatever else is in between Malgrave and Wilderrun) and suddenly landed in the middle of Wilderrun without Drusera noticing or interfering.

It just makes no sense and makes the whole exanite cannons and breaking the wall story totally useless and retarded. Especially when everything in Grimvault says the Strain hasn't found a breach before, and has been looking for that since forever.

Its just bad and inconsistent writing that goes against established lore, just to introduce the big bad a bit earlier for meta reasons.
